Twittering more than Blogging

These days, I hardly have time to do much, ever since moving on from my previous job. The window left for me to blog, surf and just "run" around the internet has almost dwindled to less than 2 hours a day (and nite). But after saying that, I still found the time to "farm" at my favorite Farm Town place on Facebook (ok ok I have finally admitted that my frens Joyce and Daphne *smirk).

I used to be on Twitter also during my more active blogging days but since I am quite a "wind bag" - loves to talk and talk (and that is according to my ex Boss Rudi, or at least the impression that I got from him), blogging has always been my preferred choice of communicating. But these days, as I hardly have that much leisure time, I have turned to Twittering. It is actually not bad. Now that I have subscribed to the unlimited data access line, all I really need to do is to make sure that my mobile is fully charged all the time, and I can Twitter anywhere, whilst stuck in a traffic jam (opps, this is a no-no, so, please do as I say and not do as I do), sneaking in 5 minutes of office time whilst waiting for office meetings to start, during breakfast, lunch or dinner (especially when I am dining alone). I must really thank Twitter for saving my sanity. Surfing and getting online is really an addiction and I have to really accept this as a fact. Half a day without it and the withdrawal symptoms will start to kick in.

So, those of you who liked my blog (previously when it had more posts) and still like my blog, I am now on Twitter and I go by the name "Yozoranitesky" - (now why does that not surprise me - this is Patrick Ku's thought bubble - haha)

Alrighty then, I will see you all on Twitter then? Cheers and have a great weekend - I am sure I will.

Oh, by the way, those cutie little pups, they have all gone to great homes, Paddy, Benjamin, Eleanor, Magic and Cupcake. Hey, but that is only 5 of them... well the 6th one, MJ, he is with me now :). Hope to have a doggie meetup very soon. Any one of the doggie pals out that have any suggestion? Chester? Snoopy? Axel? Jake?Rusty?

Horrible Intense Gastric Pains

Wow.. this morning was really agony for me. When I got up, I already started to feel some rumblings and twinges of pain running through my abdominal area. I knew that something was not right already. Even before I went to brush my teeth, I went to rummaged the medicine cabinet, took out 2 gastric pills and swallowed them with some water.

Went into the kitchen, put in some rice to be steamed in the brand new pressure cooker that I bought and whilst waiting for the rice to cook, took out the nori sheets, the sushi mat, the bonito, sesame seeds stuff that I used in the previous Bento #3 and suddenly, I felt this horrible cramp. Cold sweat broke out....sheeezzzz... went back to lie down on my stomach. Nope the pain was not going away.

The rice was ready as the timer which I set sounded. Dragged myself out of the bed. Went into the kitchen, decided that I still have to finish the bento but was not going to make rolls or fried eggs or anything too complicated as the pain was really killing me.

Took out the packet of chicken floss that I bought, placed it on a plate, poured some teriyaki sauce over it and mixed it up a little.

Put back the bamboo mat and took out the onigiri moulds and the small pieces of nori sheets. Seasoned the rice with some rice vinegar and a little salt. Used the chicken floss as fillings and as I was doing this , I was still breaking out in cold sweat.

Given any other day, I would have called in office and told them that I was going to the doctor and hopefully get a medical leave or worse case, take an emergency leave. But I could not do that as I had another of those meeting/presentation in the afternoon. I really had no appetite for rice or anything for that matter. So, this bento went to Tobiyama and his brother, who were going to a reiki class in the morning. They would probably eat this in the car for breakfast.

One more thing, Tobiyama has recently gone for sessions of alternative healing himself and he is also a level 2 reiki practitioner. I am also a level 2 reiki practitioner but there was a difference when he channeled healing energy to me. I did it to myself this morning but the pain lessened whilst I had my hand on my abdomen. Tobiyama did it for about 10 minutes, and in less than 5 minutes after that, I started puking. Every drop of water that I had taken in since I got up in the morning was ejected out of my body (via the mouth only..luckily). But I felt tremendous relief immediately. The pain was there but much more manageable. Mmmm.. some would say that it was the gastric medicine kicking in.. but me... I give credit to Tobiyama and his healing capabilities.

I think I know what did me in this morning.... it was my fruit tarts... those *@##@#* fruit tarts. Remember I mentioned that I made them for 2 friends birthday.. but I saved 2 for myself.. which I have forgotten to eat until last night. Ate one yesterday. Tasted ok. But this morning, I checked on the last one and there were molds on top of the blueberries... YUCKS!!! I think I must have eaten mold last night.. sheeesh... must check before eating the next time.

Tutors - to be one or looking for one?

It has always been my opinion that there are mainly 2 types of businesses that can withstand the worse economic climates….businesses that are related in some way to superstitious beliefs and to education. Man (and Woman) has always been known to turn to miracles and quick fix-its in his (her) hour of need and this is the time when many would probably be exploited into purchasing all sorts of paraphernalia, ranging from magic money attracting rocks to power/money attracting energy stickers. But who am I to say that it is wrong to believe? Its each man for himself.

The other business that seems to be able to weather all storms, economic or otherwise is education. Parents have been known to cut down on many expenses so as to scrape enough to ensure that their children have the chance to pursue a good education for they know that this is the most important key to their children’s future. The most precious gift a parent can give to his child is the ability to equip him with the education and knowledge to face life head on.

These days, when money is getting to be a precious commodity, finding the right source of education is of utmost importance. Education obtain from schools are already a given as sometimes our choice of which school to place our children is determined by our residential address. This is only logical as it would not be feasible to send our children to a very good and reputable school in Petaling Jaya when we are living at the far end of Cheras.

But when it comes to alternative forms of education source, parents these days have more say in their selection of the best tutor for the child. Sometimes, parents check with each other to get reference to the better tutors. Of course some arbitrarily select tutors from newspapers or pamphlets posted on the light poles in their residential area. But that can be risky business. How do we know we can trust our children in the hands of these people? We cannot be with them the entire time during the tuition. How do we know if the tutor is not some pedophile? It can be rather worrying, don’t you think?

If there was an opportunity for a parent to do some credibility checking on a tutor, would they be any takers? I would think for sure there will be. What if there was an independent team of people who would evaluate and assess the credibility and the capability of a tutor? Would parents find it helpful? Well, there is exactly one website that does this. This website MyLearningFriend.com does precisely that. It is started up by 2 very good friends and they are people of high credibility themselves.

Their web portal MyLearningFriend.com offers parents and students the best platform to look for home tutors, especially for UPSR, PMR, SPM and STPM across Malaysia. I would think that this is something many parents have been waiting for a long time for.

There is also a good part to this portal. It is also for people who would like to make tutoring one of their income sources too. Out of curiosity, I clicked on the “Search for Jobs” button and looked up their available opportunity. Saw this one which I really liked – 1-to-1 Home Tuition -English (Pre-school) [NON-ACADEMIC] to a little girl. If only she stayed near my house, I would love to take this opportunity up. Oh well, there'll be other opportunities.

I am sure this is going to be a really useful portal for parents, students and tutors (or tutors-to-be like mua) for each of their own individual needs. Quick, go have a peek.

Food can definitely kill the Monday blues :)

The days flies by at such speed that the weekend was over in a blink of an eye and Monday is here again :(. Sigh.. as I was driving to work this morning, I was like slowly working out of my sleepiness when an sms arrived. It read "...good morning 2u. i baked a cheesecake 4u. I'm on my way to the office now. when I reach, I'll sms u". The message was from my gal pal Sue. She has a blog but cannot be called a blogger yet as there is nothing in her blog presently. She tells me..."one day lah... when I feel the inspiration, I will post my recipes there".

Wah, who wouldn't perk up after such a message like that :). Going at the max of 110kph on the highway, I better make sure I arrived before the cake :). I managed to reach the office a good 10 minutes before Sue arrived with the cake. Actually, it was more than just cheesecake, I got some chiffon cake too. The aroma from them cakes were heavenly. Must make Sue send me her recipe for the cheesecake soon.

As I was sitting down at my desk admiring the cakes, my MSN window popped up and babe popped up. After the normal good morning and stuff, she said "later I pass you some cupcakes"...wah liow.. cupcakes. I must have died and ended up in cake heaven lah. So excited about the cuppies as babe is such a great baker. About half an over, a colleague came down bearing the cuppies offerings from babe. They looked so inviting.

The top ones are carrot cuppies and the bottom two are citrus yoghurt cuppies. Babe promised to post the recipe up so I will wait for them impatiently :)

I have already selected the 2 that I am eating during tea break later :)

Thanks sue and babe for those yummy cakes... I love cakes, and muffins, and cuppies and I could go on and on.
