NFSC - Going through a Good Luck Phase?

One of the topics discussed during the National Feng Shui Congress (NFSC) was Personal Date Selection. Joey mentioned that to be successful, one must be at the Right Place, Doing the Right Thing at the Right Time. Sounds easy enough but I used to think that a lot of it was left to chance or luck.

However, I am not so certain of that anymore. Having been a student of Chinese Metaphysics for the last few years, I have come to acknowledge the fact that life is always better if you had the ability to make informed decision. It is not really that hard to accept.

I know that probably it is not only the Chinese who have been using Date Selection as an integral tool in selecting the most auspicious time and date for a wide range of activities, from commencing a business venture or partnership, to getting married or moving house. Of course in the old days, the farmers selected auspicious dates to start planting their crops based on calculations and the tung shu (chinese farmers only coz this tung shu is a chinese almanac). Now the farmers uses weather forecasts and good seeds.

I do believe people of other races and cultures are also using some form of date selection techniques to identify auspicious timings for their various forms of ventures.

At the congress, Joey gave some tips on the selection of personal good dates. He mentioned that there are several techniques one can use for the date selection. The 1st method is by using our individual Destiny Codes. This is based on the time, date, month and year of our birth. From these 4 pieces of information, we are able to locate our individual luck pillars. This will give us a very broad view of the luck cycle we are in at the moment and what sort of luck we will be moving into.

Face reading is the 2nd method. This is quite simple to do. The face holds very important information about us and our lives, if only we know where to look. To determine general good luck periods, we look at a person’s forehead, between his eyes, his eyes and his nose (“he” here refers to both genders). The forehead of the person should be high. High here is defined as higher than 5 fingers width, from the hairline to the eyebrows.

The area between the eyebrows must be “bright” and fleshy. His eyes should be alert (not dull or watery) and full of spirit and his nose tip should also be fleshy (not bulbous) and has a healthy shade (not oily). These are all indications that the person is undergoing an auspicious luck period.

The 3rd method which Joey recommended was using the Flying Stars. This technique is not only used for the plotting of a house feng shui but also for our personal feng shui. We use the person’s Gua (based on his year of birth) to determine his luck for this month and the year as well.

When we use only 1 of the methods, obviously it can become rather general as there are lots of people born in the same year and some facial features are not easy to discern. However, when we take the person’s birthdate and time to add to the entire equation, then the results are more tailored to that one person.

All these will just give us a very rough indication on the person’s luck for the current period. Once the good luck period is determined, then one can go into the dates selection. Joey wrote an entire book on this subject matter but in a nutshell, his technique is first to eliminate all the “bad” inauspicious dates leaving only a handful of “good” dates. You’d be surprise to know that out of 365 days in a year, sometimes we can only get about 10 good days. Ha ha.. does this mean that for the rest of the 355 days, we just sleep the days away, doing nothing for fear of getting lousy repercussions? Nah.. that is being too paranoid already. These so call good days are really reserved for very important events like going into a business venture, starting a partnership, getting married or moving house. Come on, we don’t do this sort of thing every other month do we?

Well, if you are interested in learning more about Personal Dates Selection, you can do one of many things. Consult a feng shui master; buy the Personal Date Selection book from Joey Yap’s website or at any of the bookstores; or ASK ME. I am trying to plot my own Personal Good dates at the moment and I can teach you how to do it at the same time.

Anyways, I am still compiling some of the stuff talked about at the National Feng Shui Congress. So, watch this space.

Face Reading (2) - Map of the Face

Face reading is an extremely interesting skill to enable us to recognize certain personality traits of a person. At the same time, we could also use the face to determine what luck period we are currently enjoying. Do you know that our face holds the 100 year positions of our life? Yeah, the skeptics will say that we are never going to live to a 100 but like I say, it is only a map. If I gave you the world map, would that mean you will travel to every country in the world?

To summarize, I have grouped the various ages for easy referencing.

Ages 1 – 14:The luck of a person at these ages are seen at the ears. If the ears are deformed, then it is highly likely that the parents are not well off. At this young age, the livelihood of a person depends on his parents. If a person’s ears are neatly position, almost aligned to the head (i.e. not sticking out like a radar dish), well form, then most likely his young life has been good, sufficiently comfortable with money, wealth and education being taken care off by his family.

Ages 15 – 30: The area that we are looking at is above the eyebrows, i.e. the entire forehead region. A badly formed forehead denotes lots of negative luck and obstacles at this age. How do we define a badly formed forehead? A forehead with bumps, indentations, is boney, scarred, low-set or narrow. A good forehead is one which is smooth, free of blemishes and high. A good forehead means success in school, highly intelligent and will have a good head start in his career.

Ages 31 – 50: This includes the eyebrows, the eye area, nose and cheeks. Eyebrows should not be broken, or too sparse or too thick. Weak eyebrows indicate challenging times vs. elegant eyebrows shows good career and also good relationship with siblings. Eyebrows which are too thin show a very fussy and picky person. An eyebrow which grows in all directions shows a very confused person. Ages 31 to 34 is reflected in the eyebrows. Ages 35 to 40 is determined by the eyes. Eyes which are clear, bright shows auspicious times of a person’s life. Eyes which are of different size shows fluctuation luck and relationship changes. Ages 41 to 50 are determined by the nose and cheeks areas.

Ages 51 – 70: This age group starts from below the tip of the nose to the chin. This will include the mouth and the philtrum (the gap between the nose and the mouth). Broad, fleshy and round chins are better than sharp, pointy ones. Broad fleshy and round chins indicates prosperity at old age. Sharp pointy ones often indicate loneliness during old age.

Ages 71 – 100: These ages start from the chin going around the circumference of the face.

There are lots of things we can start to read once we have identified the particular age period the person is going true. I have been trying to think of ways of giving better graphics. Some one recommended Photoshop. Any suggestions for a tool that I can use to draw better pictures? My next post should be on the various “palaces” on the face. Watch this space :)

Face Reading (1) - Judge Not a Book by its Cover

The truth is that we do judge people by their appearances all the time.

Wow, she is so sexy...so she must be an easy lay

My Boss looks ugly and mean.. has to be a witch and a bitch.

He looks shady… better not trust him and what he is selling

My Chinese Metaphysics Master tells me “Do not read a person’s face just so that you may judge him. Do it to understand him.”

My Guru/Lama tells me “Do not practice dualistic views. Do not look at a person’s face and label him.”

I am trying, really. So I have this mantra which I utter “I shall read a person’s face to understand him and not to have dualistic views about him.”

I also know that both of them are as likely to read this blog as it is for pigs to fly..so, I shall dare have a bit of fun with my face reading studies and research here. By sharing, I know I will remember more and understand better.

Face reading is a form of physiognomy which is included in the Chinese 5 Arts. But I have also known that Hippocrates and Aristotle have also written about this under their collections of scientific researches. One can read a person’s characteristics, destiny, fortune and luck from a human’s face. The study is very interesting and fun but it is really just an indication. Never get fixated about facial readings. Some cultures believe that facial appearances are initiated from the “heart” and changes with the “heart”. Heart here refers to our mind and our thought processes. Hence, a person’s thoughts will be reflected in his characteristics, behavior, actions and face. It is obvious that when a person is happy, everything about his face is bright and happy and vice versa.

For me, face reading is mostly about having fun and having something to talk about at gatherings with friends. But since I am also a student of Chinese Destiny Analysis, I mostly use it to reinforce my analysis.

When we study faces, we look at scars, moles, marks, bumps and dents on the face plus the ears as well. A person’s face tells the entire story of his life and I think to share this will take many moons to come. But like I say, I would like to share it here and for those who would like to have fun… do keep checking in…but just do it for a laugh, to pick up guys or girls or both whatever … but don’t do it to judge and do not be so fixated with it that you want to severe all relationships with people whom you think are no longer trustworthy… remember.. the heart changes the face which sometimes plastic surgery cannot.

Fun Tips

1) A person who has potential relationship problems
Dark patches on his temples, near the corners of his temples, sunken temples and a bump on the bridge of his nose.

2) A person who is not able to keep secrets
Horse-like smile where lots of gums are shown when he smiles. Worse if he has large eyes.

3) A person who is flirtatious
Watery eyes with fish tails/laughter lines forming at the end corner of the eyes. Has thicker lower lip than upper lip

Plenty more where that came from …. :P
